Photovoltaics

What is Photovoltaics?

Photovoltaics refers to producing electricity using solar photovoltaics. The electricity produced in this way is sold to Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and other obligated power suppliers to generate revenue, which is known as the solar power generation business. As the solar power generation business is stable with high expected returns, it is drawing attention from investors preparing for retirement.

Ground-mounted photovoltaics

Ground-mounted solar photovoltaics(GMPV) refers to a type of solar power generation where photovoltaic modules are installed on the ground to produce electricity. Advantages of GMPV include the ability to install large capacity systems and achieve high power generation efficiency. GMPV can be installed on agricultural land, vacant land, etc. and is drawing attention for its potential to increase farm income and vitalize local economies by utilizing such land.

Building-integrated photovoltaics

Building-integrated solar photovoltaics(BIPV) refers to a type of solar power generation where photovoltaic modules are installed on unused roof space or other areas of buildings to produce electricity. Advantages of BIPV include increasing the energy self-sufficiency of buildings, reducing energy costs, cutting greenhouse gas emissions, and contributing to environmental protection. BIPV is an important form of power generation that can facilitate the expansion of renewable energy and the transition to sustainable energy.
